Community Water & Wastewater Systems

The Siksika Nation Public Works Community Water & Wastewater Team are certified Water & Wastewater Operators that are dedicated to providing the Nation with clean potable drinking water and wastewater collection services. The Community water & wastewater system serves up to 600+ on the Nation. Homes connected to the Community System are mostly found in the Community Sub-Divisions like the Cluny, Stobart, West Gleichen, and Suzy Slough areas.

The Community water system serves potable water to community members on the Nation through 2 the use of Class 2 Water Treatment Plants, and 2 Pump Houses. The system also contains numerous Fire Hydrants, Valves, and Curb stops spread along the underground community water piping system.

Community water & wastewater team members will visit these sites daily to perform standard quality control tests, record water usage numbers, and adjust chemical pumps and operation processes widely used in water treatment industry for the past 100 years.

The Community Sewer System deals in the collection and treatment of all the Nations wastewater, including everything else that goes down the drain. The Community Sewer System is composed of 5 lagoons, and 17 lift stations. The community sewer system also contains various Manholes, Valves, and Sewer Cleanouts that are spread throughout the underground piping system.

Community water & wastewater operators will check these sites regularly to record usage numbers and maintenance the lift station pumps for blockages or other sewer related issues, including lagoon sampling and discharging operations.

Services Provided

What we do to help Nation members

  • Call into the main office for any sewer related issues including winter freeze-ups on the community system. Please ensure that no hazardous materials i.e., grease, oils, baby wipes are flushed down the drain to prevent any sewer back-ups or costly repairs.
  • Call into the office for any water related issues including winter freeze-ups on the community water system.
  • Call in to have your water tested for any water related issues.

Please ensure your animals are tied up, and access is clear before crews arrive for all operations.
